Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Education

Manage and treat chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in primary care settings by joining ASHM’s Hepatitis B Prescriber program: become a HBV s100 prescriber and maintain your accreditation by attending updates.

This program consists of two components:

  1. Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Course: Upon successful completion of this free training and the associated case assessment, eligible participants may apply to the relevant state departments of health for authority to prescribe Section 100 (s100) drugs for the management of hepatitis B in Australia.   
  2. Hepatitis B s100 Prescriber Update: In this 90-minute case discussion participants will discuss a range of hepatitis B case studies with a specialist or experienced HBV s100 prescriber, highlighting approaches to diagnosing, treating and managing people living with hepatitis B.

Course Components

  1. Pre-course survey
  2. Hepatitis B introductory online learning module (2 hrs)
  3. Attend GP presented live session 1 (120 mins)
  4. Models of primary care video (30 mins)
  5. Prescribing treatment video (10 mins)
  6. Attend specialist presented live session 2 (120 mins)
  1. 1 case study quiz (30 mins)
  2. Specialist advice and referral video (30 mins)
  3. Attend live case study discussion session 3 (120 mins)
  4. Final assessment (90 mins)
  5. Post-course survey

Learning Outcomes

  • Outline the critical role of primary care in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of people living with chronic hepatitis B
  • Plan long-term care, including guideline-based monitoring and hepatocellular carcinoma screening, for patients with chronic hepatitis B
  • Select and prescribe first-line antiviral treatment when clinically indicated
  • Identify situations where specialist advice or referral is required
  • Integrate principles of person-centred and culturally competent care into hepatitis B management

  • This activity is an RACGP-accredited activity under the RACGP CPD Program for the 2023-2025 triennium. Educational Activities: 6.0. Reviewing Performance: 3.5.
  • This course and associated activities are accredited with ACRRM for 6 educational activity PDP units, 3.5 performance review PDP units, and 4 additional CPD requirements in the 2023-2025 triennium.
  • This activity is endorsed by the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) for 9.5 CPD hours.

  • This course and associated activities are accredited with ACRRM for 1.5 PDP hours and 4 additional CPD requirements in the 2023-2025 Triennium.  
  • This course and associated activities are accredited by the ACNP for professional development.
