Course Overview

This four-part online training course helps nurses, midwives and sexual health workers understand the public health aspects and clinical management of common STIs, HIV and hepatitis B. The course helps participants develop confidence in a proactive and practical approach to health care and evidence-based practice.

Learning Outcomes: 

  1. Describe the clinical presentation and nurse’s role in managing STIs 
  2. Identify the priority populations for STI and BBV screening 
  3. Demonstrate confidence in discussing sexual health with patients 
  4. Describe contact tracing processes 
  5. Describe current HIV prevention methods

This training is endorsed by ACN according to our Continuing Professional Development (CPD Endorsed Course Standards. It has been allocated 9.5 CPD hours according to the Nurse and Midwifery Board of Australia – Continuing Professional Development Standard. 

This activity is endorsed by ASHNNA. Australian College of Midwives CPD Endorsed Activity.  

This activity has been endorsed by APNA according to approved quality standards criteria. Completion of these educational activities entitles eligible participants to claim 9.5 CPD hours.
