Course Overview

This session will provide a sexual health and HIV update for NSW-based primary care clinicians. The presenters will discuss emerging sexual health and HIV trends, new treatments/clinical practice and guidelines, resources/support available. Content areas will include Syphilis, Doxy-PEP, Long-acting injectable HIV PrEP, and Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Target Audience: 

GPs, GP registrars, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, and other health professionals working in primary care settings. 

 

Speakers:

The webinar will be presented by: 

  • Cherie Bennet, Medical Educator, ASHM and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Sydney Sexual Health Centre 
  • Miriam Grotowski, General Practitioner at Ochre Health and Senior Lecturer at University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health 

 

Course Components:

  • Attendance at course on 17 June 2024, 6:30pm – 8:00pm (AEST)
  • Post-course survey 

 

Learning Outcomes: 

  • Awareness of emerging issues/trends, new treatments and clinical practice/guidelines, resources and support available in primary care. 
  • Provide a forum for clinical practice discussions.  
  • Assess the recommendations to overcome barriers for implementing new clinical practice guidelines, resources and support available to primary care clinicians.

 

Endorsement and CPD: 

This is a CPD Accredited Activity for 1 Educational Activity hours under the RACGP CPD Program for the 2023-2025 triennium.  

Pending accreditation with ACRRM.
