Course Overview

This four-part online training course helps nurses, midwives and sexual health workers understand the public health aspects and clinical management of common STIs, HIV and hepatitis B. The course helps participants develop confidence in a proactive and practical approach to health care and evidence-based practice.

  • Part 3: Tuesday 18 June | 6:30pm – 8:30pm (AEST)
  • Part 4: Thursday 20 June | 6:30pm – 8:30pm (AEST)

Venue: Online – Microsoft Teams

Course Components :

  1. Pre course survey
  2. Online Learning Module (2 h)
  3. Four Interactive Sessions (2 – 2.5hours each)
  4. Between workshops activity (1 case study)
  5. Post course survey

 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical presentation and nurse’s role in managing STIs
  2. Identify the priority populations for STI and BBV screening
  3. Demonstrate confidence in discussing sexual health with patients
  4. Describe contact tracing processes
  5. Describe current HIV prevention methods
