What is a DGR organisation?
A DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) organisation is recognised by the government as eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. This means that when you donate to ASHM, you may be eligible to claim a tax deduction for your gift.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, as ASHM is a DGR organisation, you can claim a deduction on your tax return for any donations of $2 or over.
How do I get a tax receipt for my donation?
You will receive a tax-receipt via email after you donate or after a recurring donation has been processed.
Who oversees the ASHM Gift Fund?
ASHM’s finances are overseen by a sub-committee of the board – Finance, Risk Management and Audit (FRMA) committee which also oversees the Gift Fund donations and spending.
How are applications for support considered and approved by the Committee?
Applications under AUD2,000 are reviewed and approved by at least 2 members of ASHMs executive team. Applications over AUD2,000 are presented to the FRMA for approval.
What will my donation be used for?
Donating to the ASHM Gift Fund supports both domestic and global programs by providing scholarships, training, and capacity development opportunities for those living in low- and middle-income countries and settings. We allocate donations to fund specific programs and initiatives that align with our mission.
How can I stay informed about projects funded by the Gift Fund?
We are committed to transparency and provide regular updates on how donations are utilised. All projects funded by the Gift Fund are documented in our Annual Report. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be notified when it is published.
How can I cancel or change a recurring donation?
You can cancel or modify a recurring donation at any time. Simply log in to MyASHM to manage your subscription.
How can I request a refund?
Donations are accepted in good faith and are non-refundable unless there is evidence of an error made by us or you. Refunds may also be issued in exceptional circumstances, such as evidence of donor vulnerability.
In the case where a refund is approved and provided:
- Your tax receipt and any tax deductions claimed are no longer valid. You may need to notify the ATO, and they will advise you.
- We reserve the right to deduct any bank or transaction charges for any refunds processed.
