Join us this World Hepatitis Day – 28 July – to call for urgent action to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030.
Did you know?
- More than 220,000 people were estimated to be living with hepatitis B in Australia at the end of 2020
- More than 115,000 people were estimated to be living with hepatitis C in Australia at the end of 2020
- In Australia, Hepatitis B and hepatitis C are the primary causes of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer)
- Hepatitis B and hepatitis C can be managed in primary care, with effective treatments available for hepatitis B and an effective cure for hepatitis C, meaning that liver cancer can be prevented!
We have the tools now to prevent viral hepatitis. We must support every person in Australia to access the appropriate information, support, testing, care and treatment they need.
Knowing more about hepatitis B and hepatitis C and sharing information could save lives and prevent people from developing serious liver disease or cancer.
Visit www.worldhepatitisday.org.au for more information or attend an event below to learn more about national and international efforts to reduce the impact of viral hepatitis and how you can make a difference!
