Course Overview

Join our interactive course on HCV management in primary care! This course aims to empower participants with the skills and confidence to diagnose, assess, manage, and treat hepatitis C (HCV) in primary care.

Target Audience: 
General practitioners, nurse practitioners, other practitioners prescribing or intending to prescribe s85 direct-acting antiviral medication for HCV in primary care settings in NSW. Nurses involved in the assessment and work-up of patients for treatment are also encouraged to attend.

Speakers/Facilitators:  

The training delivery utilises a blended learning approach with expert-led presentations and facilitated case discussions from a General Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner, and Peer/Lived Experience speaker.

Course Components: 

 1. Completion of the pre-course survey   

2. (Optional) Completion of the Pre-course Online Learning Module   

3. Attendance at the 2-hour interactive training session   

4. Completion of the post course survey  

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify when screening and testing for HCV is indicated  
  • Interpret HCV test results     
  • Discuss required pre-treatment assessments  
  • Determine which treatment, monitoring, and follow-up is required.   

Endorsement and CPD: 

This course has been approved as an RACGP CPD activity in the 2023-2025 triennium.  

Approved for 1.5 hours Educational Activities and 1 hour Reviewing Performance.
