From 1 September 2026, the prescriber accreditation requirement for hepatitis B medicines under the PBS Section 100 (s100) Highly Specialised Drugs Program will be removed. As a result, all medical and authorised nurse practitioners will be able to prescribe hepatitis B antiviral treatment without additional specialist accreditation. ASHM is currently updating its website, education and resources to reflect this change.

Overview

Contraception Essentials: Navigating a Consultation is a video resource designed to support clinicians in their contraceptive consultations.

The video guides clinicians to utilise ASHM’s Decision Making in Contraception: Consultation Essential resource to conduct patient-centred and evidence-based contraceptive consultations.

Through the demonstration consultation, viewers will gain the skills to confidently initiate a discussion about contraception and assist patients in selecting the most appropriate contraceptive method.

By viewing the video and utilising the Decision Making in Contraception resource, clinicians can enhance their ability to provide comprehensive, patient-centred contraceptive care. They gain access to a wealth of information, including reminders of key discussion points, considerations for specific patient populations, and strategies to address common challenges encountered during contraceptive consultations.
