Eligible HIV Activities for Prescriber Points

Access the MyASHM learning portal by logging in with your username and chosen password to check your current points, add or edit your practice listings and submit any eligible external HIV educational activities for Prescriber Points.

For ASHM activities, including courses, conferences, and online modules, ASHM staff will record attendance/ completion and allocate HIV Prescriber Points accordingly. Note, it is the responsibility of each attendee to sign the attendance sheet at all face-to-face events. For non-ASHM activities, you will need to submit the activity to ASHM via the Prescriber Portal. You must provide adequate details regarding the activity and the learning outcomes along with any relevant documentation (e g certificate of completion, correspondence with specialist, copy of journal article, etc). Journal Club and Clinical Education Sessions

Clinical Education Sessions are run in collaboration between ASHM and Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC). These sessions provide updates on important emerging developments in HIV and STIs, giving clinicians opportunities to integrate the latest evidence into diagnosis and management strategies in their clinical settings. They also offer HIV Prescribers the opportunity to earn HIV Prescriber points.

Clinical Education Sessions are run every second Wednesday and generally consist of a 60-minute Clinical Education Seminar presented by physicians and specialists. Sessions are delivered virtually via Zoom online webinar.

To register, email [email protected] to be added to our 2025 update list. Once signed up, you will receive notifications and a link to join the next Clinical Education Session the day before the session.

To earn HIV Prescriber points, HIV Prescribers must attend the full Clinical Education Session live or watch past sessions via the MyASHM Prescriber Portal. Session can be recorded via the MyASHM Portal for 2 HIV Prescriber Points each. Attendance at every Clinical Education Seminar is not compulsory—choose the sessions that suit your needs and schedule.

HIV Prescriber Points FAQs

To check your HIV prescriber point points:

  1. Log into the MyASHM Prescriber Portal
  1. Select ‘Accreditations’  at the top of the screen
  1. Select the relevant accreditation type (HIV s100 or HBV s100)

This will give you an overview of your current prescriber points against the required number. Click on the relevant accreditation year to view activities that are already submitted.

HIV s100 prescribers who primarily work in a hospital, a sexual health clinic attached to a hospital, or a publicly funded sexual health clinic are considered exempt from continuing professional development and do not need to earn HIV prescriber points to maintain their s100 accreditation. This excludes GP registrars who must earn HIV CPD regardless of their primary setting.

Exempt prescribers are still encouraged to complete ASHM courses and prescriber point activities to maintain clinical competency.

If exempt prescriber changes settings, their classification as an exempt prescriber is subject to change.

No, if you have attended an ASHM course (online or in-person) or an ASHM conference associated with Prescriber points, your Prescriber points will be automatically awarded. Please allow up to two weeks after the course/conference for the Prescriber points to appear on your record.

Prescriber points associated with ASHM on-demand online learning modules are automatically applied and should appear on your record in 24 hours.

Your prescriber status will be changed to ‘on leave’, meaning you are NOT authorised to prescribe the associated s100 medications. ASHM will email you to confirm your status change and inform the relevant state/territory health department.

You can contact ASHM to reinstate your prescribing rights at any time. You can find contact details at: Contact and Enquires
