Course overview

This 75-minute eLearning has been co-designed with clinical and community input to introduce healthcare providers to the issues that affect women living with HIV and to provide guidance on how you can support them to have good quality of life at any age.

  1. Women and HIV in the Global and Australian Context
  2. Life for women with HIV
  3. Supporting newly diagnosed patients
  4. Pregnancy and childbirth while living with HIV
  5. Cancer and menopause risks for women living with HIV

Course learning outcomes:

  • Describe the drivers of stigma and discrimination for women living with HIV
  • Explain the concept of person-centred care.
  • Identify strategies for supporting women living with HIV when they are newly diagnosed.
  • Identify strategies for supporting women living with HIV through the reproductive years.
  • Identify strategies for helping women living with HIV to manage their risk of cancer and menopause-related health issues.

CPD:

  • This is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program. It is accredited for 1.5 educational activity hours.
  • This activity has been approved by ACRRM as an accredited activity. Allocated 1.5 educational activity hours.
  • HIV s100 prescribers will receive 1 HIV Prescriber Point for completing this eLearning.
