Course Overview: 

A Train the Trainers model is intended to engage master trainers in coaching new trainers who are less experienced with a particular topic by providing set training materials along with guidance on delivering them. Upon completing the program, you will be expected to take on the role of the trainer within your practice setting, using the provided materials and guidance to deliver the training to your colleagues with ongoing support from ASHM. 

Learning Objectives: 

  • Describe the clinical stages of syphilis and identify clinical symptoms  
  • Explain the importance of syphilis testing in pregnancy  
  • Discuss referral pathways and support for positive syphilis cases in pregnancy  
  • Locate relevant national and state antenatal guidelines for testing, management, contact tracing, and notification of syphilis  
  • Examine the characteristics of adult learners 


This program is pending accreditation by RACGP for the 2024-2026 triennium. Educational Activities: 3.5. Reviewing Performance: 1.5.
