This course provides Medical Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners with comprehensive training in the science of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), current pharmacology, monitoring and treatment, and the complicating factors surrounding HIV management. Through case discussions and facilitated group work, attendees will have an opportunity to discuss practical strategies with peers and specialists.
Upon successful completion of this training and the associated case assessment, eligible participants may apply to the relevant state departments of health for authority to prescribe Section 100 (s100) drugs for the management of HIV in Australia.

In person: Self-paced online work followed by a two-day program integrating in-person lectures with small-group, case-based discussion (16 CPD hours; self-paced online activities followed by 2 days face-to-face)
*Please note the online modules must be completed within 12 months before the prescriber course. Practitioners who have already completed them may be given priority for enrolment.
This is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program.
This activity has been accredited in the 2026 – 2028 ACRRM CPD Program.
This activity is endorsed by the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners.
All participants who attend the course in full will be awarded a Statement of Attendance. Please note you will receive separate statements of attendance for the online learning modules and facilitated training.
Practitioners who complete all required course components and pass the post-course assessment will receive 7 HIV Prescriber Points for the calendar year in which they are accredited to prescribe HIV s100 medications.
This course is in high demand and priority will be given to General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners who work in community settings.
