From 1 September 2026, the prescriber accreditation requirement for hepatitis B medicines under the PBS Section 100 (s100) Highly Specialised Drugs Program will be removed. As a result, all medical and authorised nurse practitioners will be able to prescribe hepatitis B antiviral treatment without additional specialist accreditation. ASHM is currently updating its website, education and resources to reflect this change.

ASHM is conducting a series of 4 webinars on Doxy-PEP to support the workforce to implement Doxy-PEP in their practices. The first two webinars will help provide background information on Doxy-PEP, including how to use ASHM’s Doxy-PEP Decision-Making Tool during consultation. The second webinar, developed in collaboration with NACCHO, provides an overview of STI prevention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, with a focus on Doxy-PEP for STI prevention.
