The Doxy-PEP Decision Making Tool supports prescribing doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (Doxy-PEP) to gay and bisexual men and transgender women at increased risk of syphilis. Suitable patients include those with recent syphilis or other STI diagnoses, periods of increased risk, or who wish to protect partners, provided there are no contraindications. Doxy-PEP should be part of a broader sexual health approach, including regular STI and HIV testing, vaccinations, and ongoing review of its need.
