PATHways – Prescriber Advancement and Training in HIV Care – is an ASHM mentorship program supporting the next generation of HIV s100 prescribers in Australia. Through structured one-on-one and group mentoring, prescribers with under 7 years of s100 practice are paired with experienced colleagues to build clinical confidence, deepen treatment expertise, and strengthen the prescriber workforce for the long term.
The program launches at the Australasian HIV&AIDS Conference in Naarm/Melbourne, September 2026, and runs through to September 2027.
Quarterly one-hour sessions, structured prompts, online platform.
Conference scholarships and profile-building for mentees. $600 honorarium for mentors, plus awards at the 2027 HIV&AIDS Conference.
One-on-one mentoring: matched with a single experienced prescriber based on your development needs, working style, and s100 prescribing jurisdiction.
Group cohort mentoring: a small peer group anchored by an experienced mentor, for prescribers who prefer peer-based learning alongside structured mentorship.
ASHM will recommend the format that best suits your goals based on your EOI responses.
PATHways runs over 12 months. You and your mentor connect at least once per quarter, with each session running for a minimum of one hour. We provide structured prompts to guide your conversations, so sessions stay focused and useful from the start.
As a mentee, you will present a short case study or journal review (around 5 minutes) at an online networking event. This gives you a concrete clinical output, puts your work in front of peers, and builds your profile.

One-on-one mentoring: matched with a single mentee based on their development needs, your experience, working style, and s100 prescribing jurisdiction.
Group cohort mentoring: anchor a small peer group of prescribers, bringing senior perspective to peer-based discussion.
Open to either: indicate you are willing to take on either format, and ASHM will match you based on program needs.
PATHways runs over 12 months. You and your mentee (or cohort) connect at least once per quarter, with each session running for a minimum of one hour. We provide structured prompts to guide your conversations, so you are not starting from a blank page and the time you commit stays focused.
Your mentee will present a short case study or journal review at an online networking event during the program. Your role is to support them in developing that work as part of your mentoring.
