This 1-hour recorded session updates HIV s100 prescribers and practitioners on new topics relevant to the management of people living with HIV in 2026. A range of topics will be discussed, this session on the 16 June 2026 focused on the HIV and substance use. Written and presented by Dr Phillip Read.

Learning outcomes:

  • Assess how substance use impacts HIV risk, disease progression, and treatment adherence in clinical populations.
  • Identify clinical signs of substance use and related behaviours that increase HIV transmission risk, including injection practices and sexual risk behaviours.
  • Apply evidence-based clinical interventions—such as screening, brief intervention, harm reduction, and integrated HIV/substance use treatment—to improve patient outcomes.
