From 1 September 2026, the prescriber accreditation requirement for hepatitis B medicines under the PBS Section 100 (s100) Highly Specialised Drugs Program will be removed. As a result, all medical and authorised nurse practitioners will be able to prescribe hepatitis B antiviral treatment without additional specialist accreditation. ASHM is currently updating its website, education and resources to reflect this change.

Hepatitis C and sexual health care in AOD settings workshops

Share the link to this page with others to keep them informed

People accessing AOD services are disproportionately affected by hepatitis C and can be at higher risk of some STIs – yet many continue to face barriers to testing, treatment and ongoing care.

Staff and peers working in AOD settings are uniquely positioned to support timely access to hepatitis C and sexual health testing and care, and play a critical role in Australia’s hepatitis C and STI elimination efforts.

Across two free workshops in Walyalup (Fremantle) on 8 November, AOD workers and peers will be introduced to practical strategies to implement hepatitis C and syphilis care into their everyday practice to support the health and wellbeing of people using their services.

Workshops will take place at Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by  Rydges.
