From 1 September 2026, the prescriber accreditation requirement for hepatitis B medicines under the PBS Section 100 (s100) Highly Specialised Drugs Program will be removed. As a result, all medical and authorised nurse practitioners will be able to prescribe hepatitis B antiviral treatment without additional specialist accreditation. ASHM is currently updating its website, education and resources to reflect this change.

The ASHM Educator Pack on Decision Making in Hepatitis B is now live. This pack is a resource designed to support clinicians with their facilitation and presentation of hepatitis B management, treatment, and care. The educator pack is a PowerPoint breakdown of the ASHM decision-making in hepatitis B tool. Clinicians who wish to use aspects and/or screengrabs of the decision-making tool can use the pack by coping and pasting slides as necessary into their presentations, however they will not be able to edit the content on the slides.
