Upon successful completion of this free training and the associated case assessment, eligible participants may apply to the relevant state departments of health for authority to prescribe Section 100 (s100) drugs for the management of hepatitis B in Australia.

ASHM is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to support attendance at this event. Scholarships may cover (travel and accommodation costs, flights and taxi reimbursement). Applications are open to individuals who are part of the event’s target audience and will be assessed based on submission time, financial need, and other extenuating circumstances. While we aim to support as many people as possible, we are only able to provide scholarships to a small number of applicants who require assistance to attend. Successful applicants will be notified by July, 24 2026.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this course and its components, participants will be able to:
- Outline the critical role of primary care in the diagnosis, management and treatment of people living with chronic hepatitis B
- Plan long-term care, including guideline-based monitoring and hepatocellular carcinoma screening, for patients with chronic hepatitis B
- Select and prescribe first-line antiviral treatment when clinically indicated
- Identify situations where specialist advice or referral is required
- Integrate principles of person-centred and culturally competent care into hepatitis B management
Course Components:
This course will be presented as a mix of virtual, self-paced and live facilitated learning, providing attendees an opportunity to discuss and practice strategies with peers and specialists. This is comprised of:
- Online Learning Modules
- One 4 hour live session
- Case Studies
- Multiple choice quizzes
- Presentations and case discussions will be delivered by specialists and primary care providers with expertise in hepatitis B.
Total expected time to complete all self-paced and live components = 9.5hrs
