Webinar 1 – Foundations of hepatitis C and advanced liver disease

Learn about identifying key populations, testing indicators, and epidemiology around hepatitis C, as well as an overview on the impact of unmanaged viral hepatitis on the development of fibrosis and advanced liver disease.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss the impact of stigma and discrimination on people living with, or at risk of, hepatitis C
- Identify indications for testing and how to diagnose hepatitis C infection
- Describe key elements of pre-treatment assessment
- Explain hepatitis C treatment and post-treatment monitoring
- Outline how to assess for liver cirrhosis
Webinar 2 – Exploring hepatitis B and D in primary care
7:00PM-9:00PM AEDT, 14 October 2026
In this continuation from the first webinar, this session will demonstrate how national viral hepatitis guidelines and decision-making tools can be utilised in practice across testing, management, treatment, and referral pathways. Incorporating guidance and case studies on hepatitis B and D, this series conclusion provides a comprehensive summary of the key considerations for primary care workers when it comes to viral hepatitis management.
Course Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the natural history, prevention, and clinical management of HBV and HDV.
- Conduct appropriate risk assessment, testing, interpretation of results, and referral for people at risk of or living with HBV and HDV.
- Implement guideline-based management strategies for HBV and HDV within the learner’s scope of practice.
- Facilitate timely linkage to specialist and community-based care to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide culturally safe, stigma-free care that supports equitable access to HBV and HDV prevention, testing, treatment, and ongoing management.
To get the most out of this course, it is highly recommended that you attend both webinars in the series. However, you are still able to register for one if you are unable to attend the other.
