From 1 September 2026, the prescriber accreditation requirement for hepatitis B medicines under the PBS Section 100 (s100) Highly Specialised Drugs Program will be removed. As a result, all medical and authorised nurse practitioners will be able to prescribe hepatitis B antiviral treatment without additional specialist accreditation. ASHM is currently updating its website, education and resources to reflect this change.

Overview

Sexual health is a core part of overall health and wellbeing. People in psychological distress may undertake sexual behaviours that put them at risk, yet many psychologists feel uncertain about how to navigate conversations about sexual health in clinical practice.

About the webinar

ASHM partnered with both the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), and Australian Psychological Society (APS) to deliver this webinar.

This recorded webinar provides practical guidance on integrating sexual health into therapy, along with an overview of current STI trends in Australia. The session focuses on how to sensitively raise sexual health topics, respond to client disclosures, navigate common barriers such as discomfort and stigma, and clarifies the mental health workers’ scope of practice around sexual health. You will leave with concrete language, strategies, and increased confidence to incorporate sexual health into everyday practice.

  • Target Audience: Psychologists and other health professionals working in mental health services.
  • Presenter: Laura Lee, Director and Principal Psychologist, Blue Space Psychology
