Course overview

This 75-minute eLearning has been co-designed with clinical and community input to provide guidance on caring for older people living with HIV and recognising the uncertainties they face surrounding the future of their care and clinical management of their HIV as they age. The learning consists of 6 topics including:

  1. Epidemiology
  2. Geriatric Assessments
  3. Co-Morbidities
  4. Poly-Pharmacy and Poly-Doctoring
  5. Stigma and Discrimination
  6. Care Pathways and Support

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the age demographics of people living with HIV in Australia.
  • Describe the importance and role of geriatric assessments
  • Explain common co-morbidities and their impact
  • Identify the impact of polypharmacy and poly-doctoring
  • Identify strategies for helping those living with HIV in terms of appropriate care pathways and support.

  • This activity has been approved by ACRRM as an accredited activity. Allocated 1.5 educational activity hours. ACRRM Activity Number: 30670
  • This is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program. It is accredited for 1.5 educational activity hours. RACGP Activity Number: 555646
  • HIV s100 prescribers will receive 1 HIV Prescriber Point for completing this eLearning.
