About the role

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it. SESLHD’s SHBBV Services provides leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services. Across these services, care is provided via fixed locations and outreach networks to a client base of approximately 28,000 individuals. SHBBV has highly skilled and diverse staff including nursing, medical, allied health, health promotion, administrative and technical staff. It is the largest SHBBV service in Australia. The role is primarily based at the Sydney Sexual Health Centre (SSHC).  SSHC is one of three facilities within the Sexual Health clinical services which also includes The Short  
Street Centre and The Albion Centre. The role will work in collaboration with local interdisciplinary teams to ensure a streamlined approach to client centred delivery of research across the three Sexual Health facilities. Cross facility support and travel may be required where necessary.  
  
The primary purpose of the Research Officer’s role, under the direction of the HoTE, is to support research and quality improvement (QI) projects within the Sexual Health Service (SHS) – part of SHBBV, PaCH to produce high-quality research outputs while ensuring continuous strong stakeholder engagement. 

Selection Critieria

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, Nursing, or Allied Health or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
2. Demonstrated experience completing and maintaining ethical and governance applications for human studies.
3. Demonstrated experience in using a statistical software (such as STATA or R) and digital research tools.
4. Proven experience in health-related research, including data analysis for use in research reports and documents.
5. Demonstrated excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of researchers and as a member of a team.
6. Demonstrated project and time management skills, with experience coordinating multiple research projects and working accurately within defined research protocols.
7. Demonstrated excellent writing skills, including evidence of preparation of presentations of study outcomes for conferences and journal publications.
