Course Overview: Point of-care tests provide an opportunity for providing testing to people who may not otherwise seek testing from medical settings and can enhance linkage to care. This online learning program consists of 6 individual modules (approx. 15 mins each) that outlines the key processes involved in point of care testing for hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and HIV infections using tests accessible in Australia*
Users must complete the 2 general infection control and quality control modules along with any of the test-specific modules they will be using on site. These include point-of-care testing for Hepatitis C (INSTI® HCV Antibody Test and BIOLINE HCV Antibody Test), Hepatitis B (DETERMINE Surface Antigen 2 test), and HIV (Determine HIV Early Detect test).
Target Audience: This program is designed for healthcare workers who will perform, or supervise the performance of, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, or HIV testing using these devices.

In order to achieve the final Point-of-Care Operator Competency Certificate for the National Australian HCV POCT Program, users must complete the required online theoretical training before moving on to the next stage (practical training on site).

Follow the below step by step guide to complete the online theoretical component of this course. Note you must complete the below steps in the correct sequence:-
Step 1: Begin by completing the infection control module to better understand the principles of infection control for point of care testing.
Step 2: Complete the testing module type you will be using on your site. Note: please confirm with your supervisor which tests you will be using on site and complete all that are relevant.
Step 3: Finally the online training will be completed with the final quality control module which outlines procedures for correct practical use.
Step 4: Download all relevant modules' certificates of completion on your LMS profile - also sent to your email address - and send via email to your site's training provider as part of your application for practical training.
