It has recently been announced by the Victorian Department of Health, that a consortium led by ASHM will be the new provider of blood-borne virus (BBV) and sexually transmissible infections (STI) workforce development for health professionals in Victoria.
Comprised of the Doherty Institute and Alfred Health (including the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and the Victorian HIV Service) the consortium leverages the clinical and sector expertise of statewide HIV and sexual health services, as well as the research and clinical leadership of hepatitis specialists.
As the peak national organisation supporting the education and accreditation of the health workforce in HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexual health, as well as being the current national provider of s100 prescriber training and BBV/STI education, ASHM is proud to bring unparalleled reach, experience and infrastructure to this vital work.
The announcement comes after a competitive procurement process following the conclusion of North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network’s leadership of the Victorian HIV and Hepatitis Integrated Training and Learning program (VHHITAL) earlier this year, which had previously delivered BBV/STI workforce development for health professionals across the state.
