For the first time, ASHM has published an annual Global Impact Report to highlight achievements from the previous year and to serve as an update on how key projects across Asia and the Pacific are making positive change.
The report can be viewed in its entirety here, but below are some of the notable highlights from the 2024-2025 financial year.
- ASHM achieved full accreditation from the Australian NGO Cooperation Program through the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Additionally, ASHM’s global division was named an awardee of Action for Women’s Health, becoming one of around 80 organisations awarded between $1 million and $5 million USD. Together, these achievements enable us to advance our work supporting Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Timor-Leste regions in sexual health and blood-borne viruses.
- Local clinical mentors that were trained by ASHM delivered clinical training to health workers in PNG on HIV and STIs for the first time, demonstrating the power of building local capacity and strengthening internal health systems.
- The Supporting Triple Elimination in PNG and Timor-Leste Project saw the percentage of infants at Formosa Clinic in Timor Leste receiving the hepatitis B birth dose within 24 hours of birth rise from 43% when the project began, to now almost 100%
- A new Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion integration toolkit was introduced to strengthen inclusion across HIV and sexual and reproductive health service delivery in 13 facilities across 11 provinces of PNG. This toolkit was the result of a collaboration between ASHM, a technical consultant, and the Catholic Church Health Services which ensured it was relevant to local contexts and could be embedded within existing systems.
None of this work would be possible without the support and assistance of our members, the community, and our dedicated team. So, we extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone for their ongoing contributions towards AHSM.
