Overview

This webinar is being delivered by the Australian Association of Psychologists.

Sexual health is a core part of overall health and wellbeing; sexual healthcare is healthcare. Yet many psychologists feel uncertain about how to navigate these conversations in clinical practice.

With rising rates of syphilis in Australia, there is an increasing need for healthcare providers – including psychologists – to feel confident, informed, and equipped to engage clients in these discussions.

This webinar, delivered in partnership with ASHM, will provide an overview of current STI trends in Australia, along with practical guidance on integrating sexual health into therapy. The session will focus on how to sensitively raise sexual health topics, respond to client disclosures, and navigate common barriers such as discomfort, stigma, and uncertainty about scope of practice. You will leave with concrete language, strategies, and increased confidence to incorporate sexual health into everyday practice.
