Queensland Positive People (QPP) are hiring a Community Development Officer.

Queensland Positive People (QPP) are seeking a Community Development Officer to act as the champion of engagement between Queensland’s HIV communities and QPP, through the development and delivery of social, educational and volunteer programs.

About the Role

Position Details

  • Full-time (38 hours) weekdays, with some weekend and out of hours work required.
  • Fixed-term contract to 30 June 2027 (continuation of employment depends on continued program funding)
  • Work includes community outreach (in person and online), regular team connections (in person and online), and the promotion of work/life balance with flexible working arrangements.
  • SACS Award Level 5.1 ($51.00 per hour) + super + salary packaging to increase your take home wage.

    Interviews are currently scheduled for Friday 24th April 2026.

As a Community Development Officer, you will:

  • develop and deliver community engagement projects that respond to identified needs within the HIV positive community, including volunteer and peer linkage programs.
  • coordinate the delivery of peer social activities in Brisbane and regional centres in Queensland, including online and in person.
  • collaboratively consult with individuals and community to identify social support needs and assist with the development of social support groups, attending groups as required.
  • coordinate opportunities to provide HIV education to organisations and community groups when requested.
  • coordinate the work of community volunteers in delivering social and educational programs.
  • act as a representative of QPP across HIV sector in public forums to promote QPP services.

Essential Requirements

  • You must be a person living with HIV to apply for this role.
  • Certificate III in health, community services or similar, and previous experience in the community services sector; or extensive previous experience in the community services sector.
  • Hold a current QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
  • Provide a National Police Check of 6 months currency or evidence that a check has been applied for.
  • Provide a valid Driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Ability to travel intra and inter-state as required.
