SEEK B: Hepatitis B Clinical Auditing and Case Finding Pilot Project

The project goal for SEEK B is to increase the number of people identified for screening, testing, linkage to care, and management for hepatitis B in primary care, thereby reducing the prevalence and mortality rates of hepatitis B in Australia.  

Overall project objectives 

•  To develop and implement an ASHM General Practice clinical support model(s) for case finding and clinical auditing.   
• To equip eligible health practitioners with the necessary skills and resources to conduct hepatitis B case finding and clinical auditing within their own practice to improve the identification of patients for treatment and monitoring. 
•  Enhance access to education and existing clinical tools.  
• Embed sustainable quality improvement skills into routine practice for hepatitis B.  

Module-specific project objectives 

• Module 1: Data cleaning and completeness – Clinic improves data via a focus on data cleaning and completeness to enhance ability to conduct an audit and recall process and improve sustainability of hepatitis B care.   
• Module 2: Screening – Effectively identifying all patients with indications for hepatitis B testing and recalling as appropriate
• Module 3: Linkage to care – Effectively identifying all patients with a hepatitis B diagnosis and assessing care required to then recall and link to care as appropriate.
• Module 4: Prevention for specific populations – Effectively identifying all patients with a relevant risk factor for unique outcomes related to hepatitis B (e.g. immunosuppression, dialysis) to recall and provide testing and vaccination as appropriate.
