This in person course offers introductory training to support nurses to provide evidence-based sexual health care to their patients, through testing, case management, and ongoing prevention. This course is tailored to staff working in ACT Walk in Centres, but will be relevant for all nurses and nurse practitioners working in the ACT.
Please note: This is a one‑day course offered on two separate dates – participants only need register for and attend one of these sessions.

Target Audience:
Walk in Centre staff and all nurses, nurse practitioners, and midwives working in ACT.

Course Components:

- Pre-course online learning: STIs and BBVs: Nursing and Midwifery Module
- Full-day course attendance

Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss the clinical spectrum of STIs
- Identify the appropriate method of diagnosis
- Describe at a basic level, the management of a person with an uncomplicated STI
- Suggest resources available to help with the interpretation of test results and contact tracing
