Course overview

Join us for an engaging and practical webinar designed for NSW-based primary care clinicans. This webinar will focus on emerging sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs) threats and opportunities for clinicans in NSW.

Learn about a variety of health topics, including: Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (Doxy-PEP), Antimicrobial-Resistant Gonorrhoea, Bacterial Vaginosis Partner Treatment, Anal Cancer Screening, and Mpox.

Speakers/Facilitators: 

Dr. Andrew Grulich, Epidemiologist and Public health Physician, UNSW Syndey  

Dr. Catriona Ooi, Sexual Health Physician, Royal North Short Hospital Sydney 

Dr. Catriona Bradshaw, Sexual Health Physician, Melbourne Sexual Health Centre  

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify best practices for prescribing and managing Doxy-PEP for patients   
  • Understand the impact of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) on gonorrhoea treatment   
  • Increased understanding of partner treatment in BV management   
  • Increased understanding of identifying risk factors of anal cancer and confidence in the Anal Cancer Screening Guidelines  
  • Examine the routes of transmission, prevention, and mitigation strategies for mpox   
  • List new resources and guidelines that support the effective management of STIs in NSW
