The Senior Research Officer will support the implementation of the Australian Hepatitis and Risk Survey in Prisons (AusHep). Key responsibilities include participant recruitment, biological sample collection for point-of-care testing, and conducting participant interviews.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in nursing, biomedical sciences, or similar, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience. Experience/Background in nursing will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework.
- Demonstrated knowledge of blood borne viruses and experience working in infectious diseases clinical practice (desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in direct contact with patients from marginalised populations or similar complex backgrounds. Experience in the prison sector will be highly regarded.
- Experience in clinical data collection and working with a range of computer systems and applications, including the Microsoft Office suite with a proven aptitude for learning new software packages.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
