The Menzies Viral Hepatitis Program is seeking a Research Nurse to support the delivery of clinical and community-based research activities across the program.
The Menzies Viral Hepatitis Program addresses the National Hepatitis B and C Strategies through innovative, community-based research to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Territory and across northern Australia.
The aim of the program is to build strong partnerships to implement a culturally appropriate, holistic model of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with viral hepatitis. The program delivers evidence-based interventions shown to improve the cascade of care and health outcomes for people affected by viral hepatitis.
The role
Menzies are seeking a dedicated and experienced Research Nurse to support the delivery of community-focused research projects. This role includes conducting clinical assessments, collecting and processing biological samples, engaging with participants and communities, and ensuring research is carried out in accordance with ethical, cultural, and clinical standards.
You will provide leadership in health education and promotion activities, contribute to research management tasks, and support the delivery of hepatitis B outreach clinics. This position involves both urban and remote travel, working in close collaboration with First Nations communities and a diverse research team.
About you
You are a registered nurse with excellent communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to working respectfully and effectively in First Nations settings. You bring a collaborative mindset, clinical competence, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic research environment.
You also have:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and ability to uphold confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse audiences
- Willingness to travel to remote communities and undertake additional training as needed
