HIV and Sexual Health Clinical Advisor
 
Marcel is a general practitioner who has been practicing in sexual and reproductive health, HIV and hepatitis medicine since 2014. He has worked at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and Northside Clinic and he is currently a consultant for ASHM, Thorne Harbour Health, and a vasectomy proceduralist for Marie Stopes International.
 
He has a particular interest in international public health and he holds a dual Master’s in Global Health and Infectious Diseases Intelligence from UNSW. He has worked at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Tanzania, and the World Health Organisation in Geneva, where he assisted with the 2016-2021 Global Health Sector Strategies on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections. Marcel has worked with ASHM since 2017 as a Sexual and Reproductive Health Consultant facilitating mentoring programs and delivering transgender and key population awareness training in Papua New Guinea. In 2019 he prepared a HIV Prevention workshop to be rolled out in the Asia and Pacific regions and he is also a member of the ASHM Board International Sub-committee. He was given an honorable mention for the Levinia Crooks Emerging Leader Award (Blood-born Viruses and Sexually Transmitted Infections) in 2020 for his international HIV work with ASHM.
