About Hepatitis Queensland

Hepatitis Queensland is the peak body for the hepatitis and liver health sector in Queensland. We are a community based, non-government organization providing a range of initiatives, projects and programs to address stigma, improve the lives of those affected by viral hepatitis and meet emerging liver health challenges. We acknowledge the diversity of the people and communities whose lives may be affected and represent their interests in the work we do.

To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about improving liver health outcomes for all Queenslanders and motivated to join the Board of Directors on a pro-bono basis. You will be a strategic thinker, energetic with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can positively influence discussions at a Board level.

Some of the responsibilities of Board members include:

  • Attendance of all Board meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Actively participating in the Board discussions
  • Showing respect to Board members and staff of the organisation
  • Acting in the best interest of the association
  • Complying with the association’s constitution and relevant legislation

Ordinary board members may be called upon to:

  • Fill executive committee casual vacancies that may arise
  • Perform specific tasks for the association
  • Sit on sub-committees

While we encourage anyone with an interest to apply, we are particularly looking for people with the following backgrounds and/or skills (one or more of the following):

  • Lived experience with viral hepatitis or liver disease
  • Experience in Government liaison
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
  • People who can represent culturally diverse communities
  • Some legal background
  • Familiarity with or experience in public health
  • Knowledge of or experience in HR matters
