AFAO - E-Learning Designer

AFAO is the national federation for the HIV community response in Australia. AFAO works to end HIV transmission and reduce its impact on communities in Australia and also, in Asia and the Pacific.  AFAO leads efforts to end HIV transmission in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

AFAO’s member organisations represent the diverse communities most affected by HIV – sexuality and gender diverse communities, sex workers, people who inject drugs, people with HIV and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  AFAO’s close connection with communities, provides rapid intelligence on changes in the HIV epidemic, allowing the organisation to respond quickly, and to act as a trusted communication channel to government, multi-lateral funders, research and clinical partners.

This role will be part of a new team brought together to develop and manage a Workforce Development Program across Australia and in addition to this role includes a Program Coordinator, Content Developer, Learning Coordinator and Graphic Designer.

Reporting to the Manager, National Programs, this role is responsible for designing the technical infrastructure to deliver online learning platforms.  Specifically you will:

  • Develop an online platform that provides high quality learning experiences for users
  • Ensure the programs are accessible and relevant with high participation engagement and retention
  • Plan, implement and complete projects according to priorities and deadlines
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the technical platform and content
  • Build a strong, collaborative relationship with AFAO’s member organisations to best develop and implement this new program

You will have the creativity to design and implement new programs, plus adapt existing materials to integrate adult digital learning principles and instructional design.  You can demonstrate:

  • Familiarity with on-demand didactic learning, plus interactive and peer based learning
  • Ability to build learning packages relevant to the workforce’s specific needs
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and able to create and modify graphics, animation, audio, video and multimedia products
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems is essential, including the authoring tool Articulate
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in training, instructional design, communications or adult education
