HCV Prescriber CME

HCV Prescriber Continuing Professional Development
In order to maintain HCV (s100) prescriber rights, community medical practitioners must participate in continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the use of s100 drugs for the management of HCV. ASHM conducts a range of CPD activities which include HCV prescriber updates, other training courses in viral hepatitis, webcasts and online CPD activities.
The NSW HCV Reference Committee provides the following recommendations regarding HCV CPD points for s100 HCV community prescribers to ensure that doctors prescribing s100 drugs keep up to date with developments in the area: Download PDFMaintenance of HCV s100 prescriber accreditation in NSW and ACT.
This document includes the HCV CPD points award and accrual table for HCV community prescribers for the triennium 2011 - 2013 and details the many activities that attract prescriber CPD points. Prescribers or education providers can also apply to have individual programs of study or specific courses adjudicated for CPD points by ASHM- see below Adjudication of HCV CPD points.

  Adjudication of HCV CPD points
This section provides information for organisations and HCV s100 prescribers who wish to apply to ASHM for adjudication of HCV CPD educational activities.

HCV s100 prescribers are required to obtain their CPD points from a variety of activities. ASHM, on behalf of the NSW HCV Reference Committee, would like to actively encourage external providers to submit HCV CPD activities for HCV CPD Points adjudication. This provides additional opportunities for HCV s100 prescribers to achieve their required HCV CPD points and will also act as an incentive for HCV s100 prescribers to attend external courses. Please download the Provider adjudication form here and the Attendance form here for this purpose. Detailed instructions for completion are provided in these forms.

HCV s100 prescribers are encouraged by ASHM to refer to the table in the Maintenance of HCV s100 prescriber accreditation in NSW and ACT document and submit any activities completed by you that you believe warrant HCV CPD points. Please download the HCV CPD self-adjudication form here for this purpose and submit it on an ongoing basis to ASHM throughout each calendar year.  This form provides detailed instructions for completion. The ASHM clinical advisor will adjudicate each activity on behalf of the NSW HCV Reference Committee and award you HCV CPD points accordingly.
